Driving Your Own RV:
If you are driving your own RV, you will be meeting us at the rendezvous campground on Monday. Driving directions will come with your trip packet after registration.

RV Size Limitations:
Any size rig or vehicle is welcome. However on our any of our Discover Oregon Tours, RVs longer than 35 feet will have to stay at a neighboring RV Park when we are in the redwoods. At all campgrounds in Redwoods National & State Parks, motorhome or trailer length is limited to 35 feet. Towed cars or dinghies are not a problem as they can be disconnected and parked next to the RV. If you don't have a towed car to use, we will arrange to shuttle you to the main group to join the community campfire and charcoal grill both nights.

Renting an RV:
If you are flying in, arriving via Amtrak train, or driving your passenger car here, you will be making arrangements for your RV rental with Cruise America. We have arranged a 10% discount with Cruise America in Portland, Oregon. Contact Bob White or Steve Knepper at (503) 777-9833, and be sure to mention RV Caravan Tours to get the 10% discount. Check out Cruise America's website. We recommend you get the liability & damage insurance (unless your private automobile insurance can be expanded to cover an RV rental), and also the kitchen kit ($85), and one personal pak ($35) for each person on board. (Sorry, no Cruise America discount on the kitchen kit, personal pak, or insurance.) Keep your eye on the Cruise America website: they have historically offered an early booking discount of 20% for renters reserving their rentals by January 31st of each year.

Please be aware that RV rentals are reserved far in advance, especially during prime vacation season when our tours take place. To ensure your choice of unit and pick-up destination, it is best to book your RV rental as far in advance as possible. If Cruise America is out of units, please call us TOLL FREE 1-866-324-8084 for help finding you a unit with another RV rental company.

Gasoline / Petrol Price Watch:
According to the Energy Information Administration, U.S. average retail prices continue to drop significantly throughout the country. In our experience, although Oregon is not a self-serve sales state, it tends to be 3-5 cents per gallon less than Northern California.

Flight Arrangements:
If you are flying in, you will arrange your own flights to and from Portland, Oregon, with your travel agent. If you don't have a travel agent, feel free to contact ours: Kathie Stallard at Ambassador Travel 1-800-237-1353. You can for flight arrangements.

Cruise America RV pick up hours are 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm only. If your flight is scheduled to arrive by 1:00 pm, you should be safe flying in on Monday. If your flight would arrive later than 1:00 pm, we recommend you fly in a day in advance, on Sunday. Plan on spending a couple of hours at vehicle check-out, learning the ropes of how to use your rental RV. Please call us for recommendations on local hotels if you are flying in early.

RV drop off hours are 9:00 am - 11:00 am only. The following recommendations were in effect before the disaster of September 11, 2001: If your flight is scheduled to depart after 12:00 noon (1:00 pm for International), you should be safe flying out on Monday. If your flight is scheduled to depart earlier than noon (1:00 pm for International), you may want to stay over one extra night and depart the next day, Tuesday.

If you are signed up for the Discover Oregon Tour, Week 1 or Week 2 only, please call so we can discuss the logistics of your flight. If you are on Week 1 Tour, you will need to drive from the Redwoods back to Portland (a six-hour drive) and will most likely fly out of Portland on Tuesday. If you are on Week 2 Tour, you will need to drive to the redwoods to meet us after picking up your RV in Portland. In that case you will most likely fly into Portland on Sunday.
